Checking the newest version…

  1. Tap Download the app, then open the file when it's done.
  2. If Android says it can't install apps from Chrome, tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source, and go back.
  3. Tap Install (or Update if you have it already).

After this you won't need this page. When there's a new version the app tells you and updates itself in one tap. Day-to-day changes to the map show up without any update.

Same as the website, plus GPS tracks that keep recording with the screen off. On a computer or iPhone, just use the website.
